戴 Dài is my surname, and it also means ” to support.”
維 Wéi means “to maintain or hold together.”
道 Dào you may know as Tao, the road or way, the ineffable essence of the universe pointed at by 老子 Lǎozǐ in the 道德經 Dàodéjīng, more commonly known as the Tao Te Ching.

Whoever relies on the Dao in governing
doesn’t try to force issues
or defeat enemies by force of arms.
For every force there is a counterforce.
Violence, even well intentioned,
always rebounds upon oneself.

The Master does her job
and then stops.
She understands that the universe
is forever out of control,
and that trying to dominate events
goes against the current of the Dao.

Because she believes in herself,
she doesn’t try to convince others.
Because she is content with herself,
she doesn’t need others’ approval.
Because she accepts herself,
the whole world accepts her.
